Custom Fixture Development

Polymer Solutions Incorporated will work with you to develop custom test fixtures designed for your testing needs. We have a machine shop on site to produce test fixtures designed to specification for custom testing capabilities. In addition, we work in collaboration with a local machine shop for larger or more complex fixtures.

Typically, we work with clients requiring non-uniform fixtures by developing testing plans to mechanically or chemically manipulate the material sample in question. Fixture designs are conceived, drawn, and built in close collaboration with the client to test the product according to plan.

We can build custom test fixtures designed by you. Or, our specialists can design a custom test fixture to match your specialized testing needs.

Work We've Done

Mechanical Testing of Specialty Products

A client was interested in the cyclic loading of a molded implant. We were able to design and build a custom fixture to hold and cyclically load the part in a physiological solution at elevated temperatures.

Another client was interested in the mechanical properties of tendons. A custom fixture and potting system was developed to characterize the bone-tendon-bone sections.

The tensile properties of another product after molding could not be accommodated in standard grips. We were able to manufacture a specialty grip to hold and secure the part during testing.

Another client requested a mechanical punch test called out for in an ASTM standard. The client’s product was too small to use with the standard fixture. We developed a smaller fixture to reproduce the same ASTM standard test with the client’s smaller product.
