Work We've Done

Identification of a PVC plasticizer

GC/MS was used to identify the type of plasticizer present in a flexible PVC building product. The type of plasticizer used can influence product performance characteristics such as migration resistance and low-temperature flexibility. The plasticizer was determined to be a C7,C9,C11 semi-linear phthalate ester mixture.

Identification and quantification of brominated flame retardants in electronic equipment

Tetrabromobisphenol A and decabromodiphenyl ether are commonly used in electronic equipment. The European Union has banned the use of polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) and polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) flame retardants in electronic equipment as part of the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive.
