Polymer Solutions Incorporated has substantial experience in the disciplines of chemistry, plastics, rubber materials, polymers, and materials science. The experience and expertise of PSI successfully serve defendants and plaintiffs represented by modest sized law firms as well as the largest law firms in the United States. The litigation support team at PSI includes skilled technical and administrative personnel. Testimony on behalf of clients has been provided by Dr. James D. Rancourt and also Dr. Sue Mecham. Substantial contributions are consistently made by other talented PSI staff members and scientists. Our expert team is characterized by many years of technical experience, advanced science or engineering degrees, numerous peer-reviewed publications, presentations at a variety of forums, and many patents.

James Rancourt, Ph.D.

Dr. James Rancourt, Ph.D.is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Polymer Solutions Incorporated. As a material scientist and polymer expert Dr. Rancourt has been disclosed in more than 40 cases, has served as a defense expert and as a plaintiff expert, has testified in deposition or trial over 60 times, has never been excluded from testifying, holds 7 United States patents and several foreign counterparts, has published nearly 60 papers, and has personally delivered in excess of 55 presentations. He has over 28 years experience with analytical chemistry and polymer science. Dr. Rancourt has been sought as an expert since 1989. He has testified in Federal Courts and in State Courts. His expertise and experience include cases involving patent infringement, theft of trade secrets, industrial espionage, personal injury, product liability, and manufacturing defects. Dr. Rancourt has served as a polymer expert in cases involving plastic materials and rubber compounds. Concepts based on analytical chemistry and material science are typically a significant portion of the cases. Cases have involved surface contamination, fracture, failure, adhesion failure, chemical composition, additives, aging, antidegradants, stabilizers, antioxidants, antiozonants, the behavior, performance and properties of polymer, plastic, and rubber, as well as other material science details. Dr. Rancourt has been an expert witness, a testifying witness in deposition and in trial, as a consulting expert, and as a rebuttal expert.

Dr. Sue Mecham, Ph.D.

Sue Mecham, Ph.D.

is a material science and polymer expert and the Director of Operations at Polymer Solutions Incorporated. Dr. Mecham obtained her Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry from Virginia Tech under the direction of the world renowned polymer chemist Dr. James McGrath. She has been active in the polymer community for more than 20 years and has contributed 24 papers, 2 United States patents, and numerous presentations in industry specific symposia. Her career experience includes synthesis and characterization of polymers for a wide variety of industries, formulating custom compounds to optimize short and long term performance and processing parameters, and research and development designing custom materials and tests for novel industrial applications. Her areas of expertise include polymer structure property relationships, quality assurance and specification development, process controls in manufacturing and laboratory environments, and management of litigation based analytical efforts. She has been deposed as a fact witness related to a products defect case and has managed multiple patent infringement based cases.
