About Chloroquine Phosphate

Chloroquine phosphate is the phosphate salt of chloroquine which is a quinoline compound. Derivatives of chloroquine are used in the treatment of malaria, rheumatoid arthritis, some forms of lupus, and other medical maladies.

  • Approaches

    Identification confirmation is accomplished by using a series of analytical method in accordance with the corresponding USP Monographs. Those methods may include FTIR, UV-Vis spectroscopy, and wet chemistry methods.

    Assay and impurity methods are performed by a combination of titrations, UV-Vis, and liquid chromatography methods.

    Loss on drying is required for chloroquine phosphate and hydroxychloroquine sulfate. This determines the loss of volatile matter under specified conditions.
    Uniformity of dosage units <905> of the hydroxychloroquine phosphate tablets will be calculated from assays of a representative sample batch.
