About Particle Size Analysis

Determination of particle sizes is invaluable for characterization of powders in manufacturing and processing of materials.

  • Approaches

Particle sizes can be determined either microscopically (automated optical or electron microscopy) or by laser scattering.

Analysis can be performed wet or dry.

    Image acquisition and particle detection.

    Automatic detection of large particles.

    Automatic detection of bubbles.

Real time trend graph and histogram of equivalent circular diameter.

Histogram of shape distribution (aspect ratio, roundness, length, width) with optional advanced software.

  • Sample Considerations

5 to 100 grams of powder

  • Experience

SGS has experience using Keyence Digital Imaging, Phenom Electron Microscopy, and Horiba Laser Scattering.
